LES 8 ESSENTIELS POUR UNE RENTRÉE SCOLAIRE SIMPLIFIÉE

The return to school is fast approaching and it is a significant event for young and old alike. But that doesn’t mean it has to be stressful! We have simplified this important period for you by drawing up THE shopping list for your planning. Here is our advice for a smooth return to school!

1. FIND ALL SCHOOL SUPPLIES

It’s well known that finding everything on the school supply list* can quickly turn into a nightmare. We’ve done the research for you and found 3 destinations that will tick everything on your list:

  • Bureau en Gros : find your complete supply list for all school levels!
  • Familiprix: several great finds, many of which are from Quebec;
  • Dollarama : lots of choice and good value for money. What more could you ask for?

2. GET A DURABLE BACKPACK AND LUNCH BOX

A rucksack is essential for any pupil, but it must not hinder growth. The essential criteria for a good backpack are:

  • durable material;
  • adjustable padded shoulder straps;
  • multiple compartments to distribute the weight evenly.

Our favorites:

And for the lunch box? Choose a model that is resistant, washable and that will stand out from those of the other pupils. 300; vertical-align: baseline; color: rgb(45, 45, 45); font-family: acumin-pro, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial;”>

Our favorites:

  • The Thermos lunch boxes sold at Clément : as beautiful as they are durable!
  • The Bento lunch bag available from Bentley. Divided compartments, spoon included, recycled materials: it’s perfect! And we want one for ourselves too.

3. BUY COMFORTABLE SHOES

Children run, jump and get dirty. And so do their shoes! So we’re betting on a new pair of shoes for the start of the school year, hoping they last until the end of the school year…

Our suggestions:

  • You can find the most popular brands at low prices at Club C;
  • We love the low-priced new items at Yellow.

4. HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO MOVE

Whether your child hates sport or loves it, you will need to provide them with the necessary equipment to get moving. For shoes, we favor a lightweight, breathable model that is easy to take off. Several are available at Sports Experts.

As for clothing, synthetic materials are recommended because they breathe better and are easy to wash. Comfortable shorts like these from Helly Hansen is a must, regardless of the physical activity.

5. BE READY FOR ANYTHING, BOTH GOOD AND BAD WEATHER

No respite for our little ones when it rains! So you need to provide clothing for bad weather. On the list: rain boots, a raincoat and an umbrella.

Our finds:

  • A breathable raincoat with reflective strips, like this one from Helly Hansen or this one from The North Face, at Sports Experts;
  • L’imperméable reptiles from the Quebec brand Hatley sold at Clément. As beautiful as it is durable, it is manufactured with respect for the environment.

6. FILL YOUR WARDROBE AT A LOW PRICE

Did the children have a growth spurt this summer? Quick, let’s plan a day of shopping with them (and take the opportunity to treat ourselves a little too). We bet they’ll want to wear their new clothes when they go back to school!

Once school starts again, clothes are prepared the night before to save time in the morning. Depending on their age, children can be involved in choosing their outfits to give them a feeling of autonomy and control.

7. BE INSPIRED FOR LUNCH

With all the restrictions (allergies, environment, personal tastes, etc.), lunches are often a real headache. To avoid last-minute dramas, everything is prepared the day before or at the weekend in batches. When it comes to filling the lunch box, just put it all together and you’re done!

To never run out of inspiration, you can check out the website of Super C for ideas for evening meals and cold lunches.

What if we don’t have time to cook every evening? We take time off with takeaway meals from the restaurant Le Sabreur or we sample the prepared dishes of the Café Shop

8. GIVE YOURSELF AN A+ FOR ORGANIZATION

Going back to school doesn’t have to be a fight where you tear your hair out over a duotang! Here are a few extra tips to give you a helping hand:

  • Clément proposes a service of customizable sticky labels to clearly identify everyone’s items;
  • We file each child’s important documents in clearly labeled document holders so that nothing gets lost;
  • We put the meal ideas for the week, the family schedule and the planner of everyone’s tasks on the fridge.

Share your back-to-school finds on our social networks! We want to see your favorites, the smiles of your little treasures and all your tips for an organized return to class. We wish you the sweetest and most pleasant back-to-school season!
